Choice

Choice

We live our personal subjectivity

As a bombardment of assessments,

Scoring every action or inaction,

Every judgment, every overreach,

Every failure of nerve, every cue overlooked,

Scoring, condemning, every blessed thing,

And then displacing all that blame,

Setting it “out there”

To relieve the intolerable pressure,

Thus becoming the stern critic

that plagues our long or short life in 3D.

Or,

We live accepting, valuing,

That which we are,

That which we experience,

Refusing martyrdom

To conscience, to circumstance,

Trusting the world, trusting life,

Trusting that the habit of what we live

is what we meet

beyond that last moment.

Judge not, lest you be judged.

Cause and effect, made plain.
