TGU – Our nature as creators

4:30 a.m. Getting better at not immediately losing my dreams upon awakening. Concentrating on it helps.

Okay, you wanted to resume with our nature as creators.

For some reason, it is not widely understood that you are creators not “among other things,” but essentially. [That is, in essence.] That’s what you are, it’s what you do, it’s what you are in 3D to do. Creating isn’t a hobby (nor a profession) nor a side-show; it is the show. That’s the nature of your interaction with the vast impersonal forces shaping your times (whenever “your times” happen to be). Your lives are your creation; your being; the mind you continually shape by your decisions; your part in the greater world and the seemingly entirely private world – all this is who you are. But if you do not understand who you are, how can you make sense of what you experience? How, in short, can you know meaning?

We hear so much about Earth School – a particularly irritating concept to me, I don’t know why – and about “making the world a better place” and about saving our souls (when I was a boy; you don’t hear so much about that now, or, I guess, I don’t move in those circles now). People have all these reasons for why we are here. I have often seen people say we are creators by nature among other things, but I don’t know that I have heard or read someone saying that this itself is our essence and purpose.

It is to be remembered that there are many aspects of the truth, and no one can touch them all. In effect, your truth is a relationship between ultimate unknowable reality on one side and you as you are, on the other. You might say that you are the particular fish that The Truth has hooked, and of course each of you is going to be a somewhat different kind of fish.

Interesting to look at it from The Truth as the center, rather than ourselves, but persuasive.

Well, none of you is The Center of the Universe, even though of necessity you must live as though you were.

Thoreau said, “We are all provincials in the universe.”

And that is more or less what he was saying. Part of the Copernican Shift is moving from “Myself As Center of the World” to “The Unknowable Truth of Things As the Center of the World.”

Understand, we are not talking primarily about egotism. Few of you think that everything revolves around you. But in everyday experience, of course that is how you experience your lives: Whatever happens, you are in the middle of it. So it can be hard to remember that this is only true from your own single private viewpoint. It is true from that viewpoint, for you have exclusive responsibility for your life. But of course it is also not true from any viewpoint but your own. And we know you know that – relatively few of you think that the glittering noisy world you see around you revolves invisibly and silently around you – yet, again, in day to day unnoticed assumption, you may live as though in fact the center is other than where it is.

A few words more, at the risk of tedium, for we are not at all sure that we have made our point clearly.

You are the center of the world, in that you have exclusive responsibility for the seemingly separate life you lead in 3D. At the same time, you are not the center of the world from any point of view but your own, nor in any way other than your exclusive responsibility.

This says nothing about how extensive your personal contacts may or may not be, nor about your achievements nor your influence nor your reputation nor your emotional ties to family, friends, lovers, concepts, skills, et cetera. Be any of them what they may, the essential truth of your simultaneously central and peripheral position will remain, because that is the nature of things.

I think that is clear enough, but what I’m not quite clear on is the relationship of this to your larger topic.

Our present preoccupation, you will remember, is how your two worlds coincide, or intersect, whichever way you wish to think of it. Your 3D lives – with their non-3D components inevitably a part of it of course, seen or unseen – are played out on a stage, a time-space scenario.

I paged back to see how you had phrased that before (though I’d think you would know, hence that I would know when you told me!) but I can’t find it.

Nor does it matter. The point is, you are on the moving present-moment because that is the nature of 3D. At the same time, “you” (which you?) are not enmeshed only in the moving present-moment, because you extend so far, and your extensions to other moving present-moments is a real as the part of you that you experience as only in this one. You see?

Tenuously. What I see chiefly is how none of this could ever be expressed in words and spread into the world at large. No wonder complicated truths come to us clothed in mythology.

Religion may be seen as story attempting to help people stay in touch with something beyond their ability to understand. As the ability expands – which is always a matter of one person at a time, of course – the inner nature of the story reveals itself.

Religion as parable.

That’s it. Jesus taught complicated and often counter-intuitive truths in that way, to people who could not possibly work their way to it by study or sincerity alone. But what people cannot work their way to, they can nonetheless recognize, sometimes, when they hear it. In such cases, the words they hear provide an intuitive connection, not a logical structure. Thus they are more likely to produce an “Aha!” moment than a process of sustained reasoning.

Now, we must go back and connect this as best we can. You are all creators, each the center of your own awareness, hence in effect the center of your world, and at the same time you all connect across time-space moments (a different pattern for each of you, of course, as your soul-biographies are different) thus making you also part of the one thing that is All That Is.

Within each moment of the 3D world is weather. That is, the vast impersonal forces that influence your times – your lives – help shape your times. As do you. Again (tedious to keep repeating, but necessary, probably)

No importance. The main point is that your lives matter, to you (in the process of the creation for which you are responsible on an on-going basis) and to the world (in that your part in things is as essential as anybody else’s, appearances very much to the contrary). They matter in that you are creators, and your souls (your minds) and the world are your canvas and also your results.

When I come to try to anchor a statement like that, I find myself a little at sea.

Even our best explanation, even our most plodding explanation, is still of necessity more parable than logic. You won’t be able to use reason alone; you must also reach for it. Logic and inspiration. Sensation and intuition. Use your whole brain, so to speak – which statement itself is more metaphor than “scientific” fact.

Well, there’s our hour, and I think it went pretty well, subject to re-reading. I may skip tomorrow; don’t know.

Wherever you are, there we are. You are not orphans and you are never alone. Believe it if you can; better, live as if it were true, and you will gradually realize (rather than merely have to take it on faith) that it is true.
