Communication

6 a.m. Focus, receptivity, clarity, presence. And, over to you.

In saying that you (all) can move toward the superhuman end of the scale, we do not, of course, mean that any of you can (or should want to) develop abilities that will enable you to use them against others in furtherance of your own will. We are not trying to breed monsters, nor competitive nitwits confusing outrunning someone else with making real progress on one’s own task in life, whatever that may be.

I suppose some people may think that outdoing others is their task in life.

We get your point, and we have to decide which discussion to have. A moment.

It is always striking that you may have to stop and think, on our time. I still tend to think of you as able to decide instantly. I read, years ago, that the difference between subconscious time and conscious time is a million to one: That is, we consciously process 42 (I think it was) bits of information per second, and the unconscious, 42 million. Staggering disparity. But given that I roughly equate you all with the unconscious mind, it’s hard to imagine why you would need our equivalent of 42 million minutes to decide something.

That raises a third potential topic, the actual factors involved in our discussions with the 3D. The second possibility was, the nature of people’s tasks in 3D life, and the original idea was to discuss the nature of “superhuman” abilities per se.

Why not address all three?

That is more or less what we have decided to do. A fourth related topic is the time disparity you mention. Of course it all links up, and any topics that arise at the same moment of time are ipso facto capable of being closely related, or they wouldn’t have arisen.

Thus offering a fifth topic, if you choose to pursue it.

Exactly right. So you see, even with our enhanced processing power, so to speak, we are considering so many variables, so many moves into the future of the discussions, that it can take a while (topic three).

Do you ever wish we could proceed at a faster pace? That, for instance, I could work harder or longer or somehow more efficiently?

We can see how you might think we would, but that is because you haven’t thought through the difference between our goals and, say, Seth’s, or Edgar Cayce’s, or Neale Donald Walsch’s. We say it as if it were the 3D person’s idea, but you know what we mean. If we were to say Frank DeMarco’s, it would be for convenience; it would not mean to imply that you were the initiator. (If Seth were not so universally known and if his material were not identified with his name, we would have said Jane Roberts’.)

Yes, I gather that the difference is caused chiefly by the existence of the Internet.

Very good. Yes, because our intent (our hope) is to educate you and those who read this material as we go along. That is, we are hoping for a continual slow growth, and we will say, in this we are succeeding about as well as we could have hoped we might. We are, one might say, automating the process of personal teaching. Individual teachers never try to give their students everything in one lump, yet this is what books must do, by their nature. Rather than publish a series of books, we have spent more than 20 years publishing a few paragraphs at a time. It is all a mixture of information, of examples of the process, and of information about the process, and naturally it is somewhat redundant, not only because information needs to be fitted into new contexts, and not only because people forget with the passage to time, but also because ideally someone will be able to come in at mid-stream and be able to pick up the threads of the conversation.

But of course we don’t usually read books all in a sitting.

No, but most people read only a few books at a time. (That is, either going back and forth among several or, if reading each separately, reading only a few books within a certain span of time.) When the time is overlaid by later time, what was read earlier may be half-forgotten. But getting the material a few paragraphs at a time over 20 years is a different experience, and will have a cumulating effect.

“Cumulating,” not cumulative?

We said it for a reason. Let it lie. So, let us itemize by number:

  1. The nature of superhuman abilities.
  2. People’s different tasks in 3D
  3. Factors in 3D/non-3D linkage in conscious communication.
  4. How the time disparity manifests.
  5. What is possible in a given moment of time, and why it is possible.

Interesting process. I had to page back to find each one, but you rephrased them as I came to make the list.

It’s called cooperation. Your looking saves us from having to bring it back to you, with the difficulties that would involve, and our rephrasing on the fly helps move the argument forward.

If you say so. Do you intend to address them all, in less than half an hour?

We’ll see. As so often (and for reasons we have spelled out before) we will address the list out of order.

Number five. If you will remember that reality is a seamless unity and that in 3D you experience it as time-slices (and space-slices, but that is less relevant at the moment), you may perhaps grasp that

Yes, I see the pause. You’re trying to decide how to bring astrology into the picture.

We are, but if we do, there is little hope of going through the whole list before you will need to stop. Still – there we are.

Astrology is not the study of causation in time, though it often is taken to be that. It is the study of correlation in time, allowing prediction of your internal weather, according to the regular procession of factors marked (not caused) by the various celestial factors.

I had to refocus, when I realized that I doubt anybody will understand what you’re saying. It must be less cryptic.

We don’t mean to be cryptic. We are saying that every moment of time has its own combination of qualities, and these qualities proceed from the same progression of forces that lead the planets in the heavens. Mars in Leo adds certain very definite characteristics to a moment, and when you combine ten planets (counting sun and moon as if they were planets) in 12 signs, right there you can see the potential for many, many moments of different qualities. We can’t do the math, but it is simple math for those who can. And each individual’s natal chart places those planets in signs into various houses of the 12, adding that much more complexity.

In effect, each time-slice that you experience is “weather” of a unique kind. It does not determine what you do; it does provide bounds to what is possible, what is easy, what is perhaps not possible, in any given moment.

There is nothing wrong with this limitation: It is the nature of 3D reality. But you get yourselves greater leeway by working with the knowledge than by not. We don’t mean, run your life by astrology (though that will appeal to some); we mean, take for granted that everything that happens in a given moment is connected, at least in that it was able to manifest in that moment. You understand?

I do. There are no meaningless coincidences, only simultaneous appearances whose commonality may not be apparent.

Yes, that will serve. So, you see, you must take advantage of a given moment’s inspiration, for it may not come again, as Emerson pointed out. Every moment is precious and unique, and should be seen as such. This does not mean, “Clutch at it. Cling to it.” Just the opposite, in fact, for that would mean not taking advantage of the succeeding moment. Faust’s condition laid down by Mephistopheles.

Faust’s soul would be forfeit if he ever said to a passing moment, “Oh, stay, you are so fair.”

Now, your hour is up and you are wanting to continue. But do you think we can give proper consideration to each of the remaining points, with you having half your mind on the ticking clock?

Well, one, anyway. Pick an easy one.

Number two, then. Implicit in “Don’t try to judge anyone else” is not only that you don’t have the data for how well they are doing relative to the resources they brought to the task. It is also true that you don’t know and can’t know what their task was, or is. It is a prime mistake to assume that others came into life with similar values, goals, responsibilities,  handicaps, as you. Did Hitler come in to manifest kindness and consideration? We could multiply examples (and we are tempted to), but the hint should be enough. But if a person is to manifest strength of will, say, or strength of character, or strength of endurance, you can see that many different lives are possible, and each person chooses what life they will lead by the choices they make one at a time in 3D circumstances. Only, remember, not any two people are moving toward the same goals.

Somebody has to wear the black hat in our 3D dramas.

It’s much more basic than that. The vast impersonal forces amount to the total unresolved agenda of the entire human race, as a sliver of it manifests in any given time. There is no reason to expect that all of that energy is going to manifest as “good.” But it will manifest. Think about that.

And, I gather, that’s it for the moment. I trust that we will hit the remaining points next time?

Depending. As always.

Today’s theme?

Perhaps simply, “Communication.”

I see your point. Okay, and our thanks for all this, as always.
